Following 42 years at Nicholsons Chartered Accountants, Richard Grayson will be retiring as a Director on 31st March 2022.

Richard joined Nicholsons in 1980 as a trainee before qualifying as a Chartered Accountant in 1984, and then becoming a Partner in 1987. Richard has worked with businesses and individuals of varying sizes across all sectors, bringing with him expertise and a personal approach to client service.

Gail Green, Director at Nicholsons commented, “Richard has had an incredible career for more than 40 years, and played a huge part in the success of Nicholsons, helping to make it the modern firm that we see today. Richard embraced all the advances in technology as the tax system became more complex at the end of 90’s, and was instrumental in the firm’s move to purpose-built premises at Newland House, The Point in 2004. Richard has always maintained a personal service with his clients, but he’s also friendly, funny and well-liked around the office, so alongside thanking him, we’ll also miss him.”

Over the years Richard has been an active member of Round Table, taking great pride and satisfaction from the part he has played in raising money for charities in the local area. After a brief rest, Richard plans to continue his passion of travelling the world, spending time with his family and improving his golf handicap!

Richard added, “I’ve seen so many changes to the accountancy profession over the last 42 years, and enjoyed facing these with a positive attitude at Nicholsons. There has rarely been a dull moment! I’ve been lucky to have worked with so many talented individuals during my career, and they’ve all had the same focus, to help our clients, in whatever way we can and I can retire knowing that we’ve served them all the best we can. Thank you to all my colleagues, past and present for their hard work, dedication and trust.”

With the retirement of Richard, Nicholsons has announced the appointment of two new Directors, Steve Robinson and Kate Brown.
