Exciting News for UK Families!

As of April 5th, 2024, there are some significant changes coming to Child Benefit.

Starting this month, the Child Benefit rate will increase, providing even more support to families across the country.

There are updates to the earning thresholds. As of April 5th, the higher rate taxpayer threshold will rise from £50,000 to £60,000 per year. This means that more families with higher household incomes will now be eligible to receive some level of Child Benefit. However, for households where one parent earns over £60,000, the benefit will be subject to the High Income Child Benefit Charge.

But that’s not all! There’s another important change on the horizon. From April 5th onwards, Child Benefit will be extended to cover young people up to the age of 19, provided they are in approved education or training. This expansion of eligibility is fantastic news for families navigating the complexities of supporting their children through further education and training programs.

So, if you’re a parent or guardian in the UK, make sure to take advantage of these changes and ensure you’re receiving the support you’re entitled to. You can only back date child benefit claims for up to 3 months, so if you have previously stopped claiming and think you may now be eligible it is important to act quickly and submit a claim.
