What does a typical day look like in your role as a business administration apprentice at Nicholsons?
A typical day in my role involves a variety of tasks. Some days I will start by covering reception where I ensure that meeting rooms are ready to be used and the reception environment is welcoming. I will then work through the tasks on my to do list which are set mostly by my line manager but also as a business administrator, you get other team members asking you to do some jobs every so often. I also take some time to complete my college work which I do from home, 8 hours a week.
What key skills have you developed during your apprenticeship, and how have they been applied in your day-to-day tasks?
I have developed skills such as communication, through networking and being on reception as I engage with clients helping them get their queries or documents to the right person and ensuring they have a good experience when they step through the doors, and organisation and time management, these skills have come through working on multiple jobs or projects, I am able to prioritise work and complete it efficiently.
How has the support from your colleagues and mentors at Nicholsons contributed to your growth and learning as a business administration apprentice?
I get great support from my colleagues at Nicholsons. I have always felt welcome to the team and they always provide guidance and encouragement. My line manager has been particularly helpful in offering constructive feedback and sharing his expertise with me by inviting me to network and to sit in on meetings which has helped me understand the values of Nicholsons more. I feel happy taking on challenges as I know the team will correct me in a supportive way. The admin team have also helped me a lot when I have come to them with a question regarding some of the reception duties.
