The team at Nicholsons are delighted to be launching a training programme designed to support experienced professionals and business owners in understanding more about the responsibilities of being a Non-Executive Director (NED).
Aspectum NED is a collaborative partnership with Philip Worrall, an experienced NED and business leader with over 40 years’ experience supporting SMEs, boards and leaders throughout the UK
Aspectum NED is more than a training programme. In addition to structured learning in a workshop environment, participants will also gain experience of working as a NED through a programme placement scheme, as well as develop important mentoring skills by working with young professionals.
The programme will cover areas that participants might encounter as a NED working with an SME, together with an overview of finance, funding and tax delivered by the Nicholsons team.
Participants will become Aspectum Alumni and will be invited back to regular social and CPD-style events throughout the year.
Speaking about the programme, Philip Worrall said:
“Throughout my forty years in business, I have seen first-hand the difference a well-prepared Non-Executive Director makes to an SME; better decisions, stronger challenge, and management teams held to a higher standard. Many experienced professionals have the judgement to serve on a board but no clear path to get there. Aspectum NED was created to close that gap, combining governance and strategic foundations with four months as an active NED on a real SME board, and an Alumni programme that ensures your development continues long after the course ends.”
Richard Hallsworth, Managing Director at Nicholsons, commented:
“We are delighted to be launching the Aspectum NED programme, which reflects our strong commitment to supporting the development of high-quality leadership within the SME community. Working in partnership with Philip Worrall, we have designed a programme that goes beyond theory, combining structured learning with real-world board experience and mentoring opportunities. At Nicholsons, we are particularly pleased to contribute our expertise in finance, funding and tax, ensuring participants leave with a well-rounded perspective. We look forward to seeing the positive impact this programme will have on both the individuals involved and the businesses they go on to support.”
