Supporting Our Community: Our Foodbank Partnerships
At Nicholsons, we believe that supporting the communities we live and work is vital. We aim to stand tall in these communities bringing people together and strengthening them. That’s why we’re proud to partner with Foodbanks in each area we have an office to support families and individuals facing food insecurity.
In the two years since 1 January 2023 we have donated over 2tn of food to local community foodbanks. The volunteers work tirelessly to support people in our communities and we are proud to be able to support them.
The Growing Need for Food Banks
Food bank use in the UK has reached record levels, highlighting the urgent need for support. In the 2023/24 period, approximately 3.12 million people relied on food banks, a significant increase from previous years. Between April and September 2024 alone, food banks distributed over 1.4 million emergency food parcels, marking a 69% rise compared to five years ago.
Certain groups are disproportionately affected by food insecurity. Disabled individuals, who make up 26% of the UK population, account for 69% of food bank users. Similarly, renters represent 22% of the population but 68% of those referred to food banks. These statistics highlight the growing challenges faced by vulnerable households and the critical role food banks play in providing essential support.
How We’re Making a Difference
We work hand-in-hand with Foodbanks in; Lincoln, Grimsby and Market Rasen to ensure everyone has access to essential food supplies.
Through our contributions, we’re helping to:
- Provide fresh, nutritious meals to those in need.
- Stock shelves with the pantry essentials, to brighten someone’s day.
- Support food bank operations with resources and funding.
- Provide some Christmas cheer with advent calendars for families with young children.
Every visit helps
When you come to any of our offices bring a few tins out of your cupboard and help us give back.
Or if you want to make an even bigger impact? Here’s how you can help:
- Donate regularly and directly to your local Foodbank. We’re happy to do the heavy lifting if you drop off at our office.
- Volunteer your time to support their incredible work.
- Share their mission. Tell their story with your: colleagues, friends and family.
Together, we can protect those most vulnerability and in doing so create a stronger, more connected community.
