Our story

Founding Father

Founded by John Nicholson in 1923, Nicholsons has been serving businesses across Lincolnshire with a personal and high-quality service. Born into a farming family, John Nicholson began in practice with visits to local farmers in the Lincolnshire region with a pushbike at the turn of the First World War having lost a finger as a result of it.

The relationship between John and the farmers grew from there, and in 1938, John became partners with George Kelsey and Jack Hibbs. Their partnership survived through World War II and they finally moved office from High Street to Newland in 1961.

Big 5 of the 70s & 80s

Under the supervision of David Hibbs, Eric Bee, John Hunt, Derek Grayson, and Tim Kelsey, best known as the Big 5, the practice at Nicholsons grew to become one of the largest in Lincolnshire and the East Midlands region. During this period, Nicholsons also opened a new office in Market Rasen.

90s and the 00s

With nearly 100 years of history, the firm has expanded itself from the agriculture sector to serve any sector and businesses of all sizes. In the early 2000’s, Nicholsons moved out to The Point Office Park and took a little bit of Newland with them, moving into Newland House.
