There was a real buzz in our Lincoln office last week as we welcomed two of Lincoln City FC’s squad, Josh Honohan and Oscar Thorn. Pictured alongside members of the Nicholsons team against our vibrant pink hub wall, the visit marked a proud moment in our continued partnership with the Imps.
As a Platinum Sponsor of Lincoln City FC, we are passionate about supporting the club both on and off the pitch. It was a pleasure to host Josh and Oscar, hear about their journeys into professional football and talk about what lies ahead as the Imps push for a strong finish in League One, with promotion to the Championship firmly in their sights.
Josh Honohan arrives at the LNER Stadium with an impressive pedigree and a reputation as one of Ireland’s most consistent young defenders. Born in Carrigaline, County Cork, Josh began his footballing journey with Carrigaline United before progressing through the academy ranks at Cork City. After signing his first professional contract in 2019, he went on to play a key role in Cork’s First Division title-winning campaign in 2022.
A move to Shamrock Rovers followed, where Josh’s career accelerated further. He featured 50 times in all competitions during his first season, helping the club reach the UEFA Conference League knockout stages for the first time in their history. His performances earned him back-to-back selections in the PFAI Premier Division Team of the Year and a senior call-up to the Republic of Ireland national squad in 2025. His transfer to Lincoln City, confirmed in December 2025, represents an exciting new chapter and a significant statement of intent from the club.
Joining him in red and white is Oscar Thorn, a dynamic right winger with an equally compelling story. Oscar began his career in the Arsenal academy before continuing his development with spells at Billericay Town and Bowers & Pitsea. He signed professionally with Norwich City in 2021, later moving to Colchester United where he gained valuable first-team experience, including loan spells at Bath City and Chelmsford City.
Oscar signed a four-year deal with Lincoln City in August 2025 and made his debut shortly after, bringing pace, creativity and attacking flair to the squad. Still only 21, he is widely regarded as a player with significant potential and one who is eager to make his mark in League One.
During their visit, both players spoke enthusiastically about joining Lincoln City, the ambition within the dressing room and the incredible support from fans this season. With the team firmly in contention at the top end of the table, there is a shared belief that something special is building at the club.
At Nicholsons, we are proud to stand alongside Lincoln City as they continue their journey. We look forward to following Josh and Oscar’s progress in the famous red and white, celebrating their successes and supporting them as they grow within the squad.
The Mighty Imps are flying high, and we are delighted to be part of the journey.
