Steve Robinson, Director at Nicholsons Chartered Accountants will be swimming the Arla Great North Swim raising money for Shine, a charity specialising in specialist advice and support for spina bifida and hydrocephalus.
As Nicholsons celebrates its 100th year anniversary, Steve set himself a personal challenge to swim 100 miles across the year to raise money for Shine, and already his total distance stands at over 65 miles. Due to this success, Steve wanted to push himself further and so decided to take part in the Arla Great North Swim, a 1 mile swim across Lake Windermere on Saturday 10th June.
Steve Robinson, Director at Nicholsons Chartered Accountants comment, “Shine holds a really important place in my heart as my wife and I had a baby diagnosed with anencephaly, and charities like Shine are essential to support people when they need it the most. I wanted to coincide the Nicholsons Chartered Accountants 100th year with a personal challenge to raise some money and I decided on the swim and started on the 1st January. I’ve found a great amount of enjoyment in it, and as I’ve progressed, I wanted to push myself further, hence the Great North Swim. I’d also like to thank the local businesses who have generously agreed to support me.”
Steve approached a number of local businesses to see if they’d be happy to donate to the charity, and in return he’d print their logo on his wetsuit and Nicholsons Chartered Accountants, Pepperells Solicitors, F1 Group, Lincolnshire Marketing and Appoint Consulting all kindly agreed to donate.
Gail Green, Director at Nicholsons Chartered Accountants added, “We’re all extremely proud of the effort and time that Steve has committed. He’s absolutely smashing the goals he set himself, and it’s inspiring to see him add more challenges to an already challenging goal. The money he has raised will be vital to continue the great work that Shine do to support spina bifida and hydrocephalus across the UK.”
